Daniel has two aunts who are wonderfully talented artists – one on his mom’s side and one on his dad’s side – and these aunts are responsible for the most beautiful art in our condo.  Paula Pierce (Daniel’s dad’s sister), who teaches art at Jones County Junior College, came over today for lunch and an impromptu art session resulting in a chalkboard portrait, in addition to the lovely canvas painting she brought us.

The artist at work.

Daniel and me. Love!

Paula also gave us a lovely canvas painting.

The finishing touches, sans mod podge.

Finished and on the wall!

Daniel’s mom’s sister, Ruth Kimbrough, is an artist in Moss Point.  (You can read more about her and see samples of her work here.)  A couple of years ago, Daniel built a canvas, with help from his mom, and Ruth graciously painted this Dauphin Island scene for us.

I like to imagine it's a window and those ethereal dunes are just outside.

Ruth also painted this still life, which was a gift from Daniel’s mom.

Jealous much?  Three cheers for lovely aunts and lovely art!
